Blue Orpingtons
As well as conformation, an important feature of the blue variety is the quality of the feather lacing.
The feather ground colour should be a clear, even, blue colour, with no black streaks or peppering.
The lacing should form a border, following the contour of the feather until it merges with the underfluff. The lacing should be reasonably fine, forming no more than one quarter of the width of the main web of the feather. Perfect lacing is when the same width of lacing goes all the way around the feather, with no breaks either inside or out.
